The incident, caught on camera, has sparked outrage among critics who slam the use of animals as props for online clout.

At one point the deer charged the tourists and tried to knock them down after the brazen group continued to manhandle him, the video showed.

In another recording, hikers can be seen feeding deer by hand and petting them despite warnings to keep their distance.

The incidents, on the Morskie Oko trail, have prompted renewed warnings from Tatra National Park, which has repeatedly urged visitors not to approach, touch or feed wild animals.

Park officials warned that deer are large, powerful wild animals that can attack if they feel threatened, even when they appear comfortable around people.

They also cautioned that feeding deer makes them lose their natural fear of humans and encourages them to seek food near visitors.

Filip Zieba, the park’s deputy director, said officials planned to try to deter the deer involved using a special gas.

He said: “This deer is the consequence of people’s irresponsible behaviour.”

He added that such behaviour by an animal was the result of a long process, mainly caused by people feeding it and repeatedly getting too close.

Authorities have also warned about deer roaming the streets of nearby Zakopane, where signs have been put up advising people not to feed the animals following an earlier deer attack.

Park officials urged visitors to give wildlife space, keep children away from the animals and avoid leaving food waste behind.

It comes after a brazen skier was mauled by a snow leopard moments after she posed for a selfie with the rare animal in January.

The tourist spotted the dangerous predator while skiing off-piste and rushed over to get a cute snap with the wild beast.

Seconds later, the big cat pounced and left the woman with serious injuries.

Harrowing footage shows the leopard calmly sitting next to its motionless victim just moments after the brutal attack.

Onlookers were left fearing the woman could have been killed as horrifying footage showed her lifeless on the ground.

But fortunately the predator was unable to penetrate her thick ski helmet.

A brave ski instructor eventually chased away the cat by frantically waving his poles.
