Millions of viewers expecting their usual morning and lunchtime programmes were met with an unexpected change as a power outage disrupted ITV’s broadcasting plans. The disruption affected several of the channel’s best-known shows, leaving regular presenters off screen. With three familiar programmes caught up in the upheaval, ITV was forced to make last-minute changes to its schedule. But what replaced Lorraine, and how the broadcaster handled the disruption, may surprise viewers who tuned in expecting their usual favourites. 👇 SEE WHAT ITV AIRED INSTEAD AND THE LATEST SCHEDULE CHANGES BELOW.

THIS Morning and Loose Women have been CANCELLED today, with Lorraine replaced, as a power cut forces a massive schedule shake-up to ITV Daytime.

This Morning has been forced into a last minute shakeup with pre-recorded segments airing instead of a live show.

Cat and Ben appeared on screen as usual at 10am, but their outfits changed several times as various clips from previous broadcasts were shown.

In the top corner of the screen there is text that reads: “This programme is pre-recorded.”

Reacting to the pre-recorded show, viewers rushed to social media in a confused state.

One person said: “What’s happening? Pre recorded!!”

“Why is this a pre recorded show?” asked another.

“Something very fishy going on here,” noted another.

A fourth said: “I’m surprised that major ITV shows like This Morning, Lorraine and Loose Women have been taken off air today because of a ‘power cut’, causing ITV News and GMB to be extended.

“You’d think their biggest daytime programmes would have robust backup power systems in place to prevent this sort of disruption.

“Surely contingency plans for something like this should be standard practice for a major broadcaster?”

And a fifth added: “Itv should have just put a film on. 2.5 hrs of repeats is ridiculous!”

ITV released a statement which reads: “Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where out Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today.

“We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible.”

Tipping Point Best Ever ended up airing at 12.30pm with the news moved to 1pm.

Cat has since shared a hilarious video of the chaos backstage amid the power cut – with their water supply also cut off.

Lorraine took to Instagram this morning to inform viewers as to why her show was not on as usual this morning, which was the first anyone had heard of the power cut.

Sharing a video from her car, the popular TV presenter revealed that a power outage in her studio meant that the show couldn’t be broadcast as usual.

Instead of showing as usual, ITV extended Good Morning Britain by 30 minutes.

The star told fans: “Hello there, I’m on my way to work but there’s been a little bit of a hoo-ha, there’s a power outage at the studio, so my show won’t be on today.

“But you can still watch GMB and they’re going to fix it round about 11 o’clock-ish so This Morning will still be on as well, but just maybe a little bit later.”

This Morning is filmed at the same studios as Lorraine’s show in Covent Garden, whereas GMB is broadcast in Gray’s Inn Road, in Holborn.

Good Morning Britain was on until 10am, with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls hosting for an extra half an hour as cover for the last minute schedule change.
