THIS is the horrifying moment a woman screams in terror as a stranger tries to kidnap her in broad daylight after chasing her.
Chilling CCTV footage shows the 24-year-old desperately fighting for her life as the suspect scoops her into his arms and carries her away as she screams for help.
The horror unfolded at around noon on Monday in a condominium car park in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The woman had been walking through a garage with her 77-year-old friend when a man, identified by cops as Diesel Kawelo, 23, suddenly approached them from behind.
Footage shows the pair turning around in alarm as the towering stranger closes in on them.
The women begin backing away, but the suspect continues advancing before lunging towards the younger woman’s arm.
She desperately bolts in a bid to escape, but the man gives chase as her elderly pal watches helplessly.
The footage then switches to an outside camera, revealing the hair-raising moment the suspect carries the woman across the car park.
The terrified victim can be seen thrashing her arms and legs as she desperately struggles to break free from his grip.
Her elderly friend, who asked not to be named, told Hawaii News Now: “I was yelling, ‘Help! Help!’ and she was yelling, too. She was saying, ‘You don’t want to do this. Don’t do this.’”
Describing the chilling encounter, she added: “He looked like a monster. He just had so much hatred and craziness in his eyes.”
But the woman’s desperate screams alerted horrified neighbours, who rushed to intervene.
Condo resident Mike Finkelstein told Hawaii News Now: “I yelled at him, ‘Let her go. I’ve called the police. I’m coming down there after you.’”
Another witness, Beverly Louis, described the moment she spotted the woman being dragged towards a vehicle.
She said: “I could see, right here, a man bear hugging a woman and dragging her to the back of his truck.
“And I heard neighbors screaming, so I just started screaming, ‘Drop her! Drop her! Drop her!’ And she was screaming for her life. She was terrified.”
The dramatic footage shows a man racing towards the suspect as the victim finally manages to break free.
The alleged attacker then scrambles into his truck before rapidly reversing out of the car park and fleeing the scene.
But his escape was short-lived after cops tracked him down just three hours later.
Officers found Kawelo running completely naked down a nearby street before taking him into custody.
He was subsequently charged with kidnapping and second-degree assault, with his bond set at a staggering £373,350 ($500,000).
Kawelo appeared in court for the first time on Thursday, where he stood barefoot with his ankles shackled.
The 23-year-old remained silent throughout the hearing, Hawaii News Now reported.
Prosecutors revealed the terrifying ordeal saw the woman carried approximately 35 feet as she desperately fought off her alleged attacker.
She reportedly swung her arms and legs, yanked at his hair and screamed in a frantic bid to escape.
The court heard Kawelo finally released the woman just four feet from his truck after brave bystanders intervened.
Police said the victim later identified Kawelo in a lineup.
He is due to appear in court again on Monday.
