Following the charges, detectives issued an appeal to people who may have attended the church during the relevant period.

Investigators believe former congregation members or others connected to the religious community could hold information relevant to the case.

Police have encouraged anyone with concerns or potentially useful information to come forward, assuring them that appropriate support will be available.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Neither defendant has been convicted of the alleged offences, and the charges have yet to be tested in court.

Anyone with information is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 or through its online reporting service.
