The challenge of arrow choreography

Frankel explained that simulating arrows hitting the body requires very specific movements, and he wasn’t sure he had the natural rhythm for it:

“Well, you know, Jimmy, it’s — the problem is, is, like, to receive an arrow to the body, you have to, like, move your body in a very certain way. And I don’t know that, naturally, I have that rhythm. But, like, it’s supposed to be, like, three arrows. I had to take one to the chest, one to the stomach, one to the face. And I just don’t know that I was able to…”

Mick Jagger and Elvis comparisons

The exchange between Frankel and Fallon turned into a playful riff on his movements:

Fabien: “So I feel like I looked like I was having some kind of a fit. Because it was like—”

Jimmy: “Are they saying like, ‘Arrow number one!’”

Fabien: “Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. And they’re calling it. Yeah. See? A bit of Mick Jagger. And I know you do a good… Are you doing Mick Jagger?”

Jimmy: “You’re doing it like that? You know. Everyone dancing around?”

Fabien: “I’m just dancing around. It was awful.”

Frankel added that at one point he looked “like a kind of Elvis on a bad Wednesday.”

Stunt team intervention

The stunt coordinator eventually had to step in and tell him to stop overdoing the movements:

Fabien: “The stunt guy was like, ‘Fabs, you’ve got to stop doing that, mate. You’ve got to stop that now. That’s too much, what you’re doing with your body there. Stop that.’”

Despite the chaos, Fallon reassured him that the final scene turned out fantastic.
