Horror fans always have plenty of films to sink their teeth into, but one man reckons that he’s found the scariest release of 2026.

Whether it’s body horror, psychological, or just a plain creepy film you’re more into, he reckons that you’ll be satisfied with the new Resident Evil film, as Eccy Reviews reckons it’s tipped to be the “scariest film of 2026”.

The Resident Evil reboot is directed by Zach Cregger and written by Cregger and Shay Hatten. It is the second reboot of the Resident Evil film series, based on Capcom’s Resident Evil video game franchise.

The core premise of the Resident Evil franchise centres on ordinary people fighting to survive terrifying outbreaks of biological weapons and mutant viruses created by the shady pharmaceutical company, Umbrella.

And as Eccy Reviews watched the trailer and filmed his reaction, he was left reckoning that this film is going to be seriously good, and the dose of scary that every horror fan needs.

At points in the trailer, he put his hands over his mouth, unable to believe what was happening
 and if this is just the trailer, imagine the horrors that await when this comes out in cinemas in mid-September.

Eccy Reviews said that it was “so creepy,” and his eyes were widening as what we assume to be the main character was in some random person’s house using an old-fashioned phone – something that never tends to end well for protagonists in horror films.

Someone was then seen running towards the house as another phone in the house started to ring. It was extremely tense, and Eccy Reviews laughed awkwardly, knowing it was going to be intensely scary.

If you’re not a fan of gore, you may need to shield your eyes or hide behind the sofa! There were limbs popping out from random places, blood splattering all over the street, all set to a soundtrack of a ringing phone, which was overstimulating and unsettling all at once.

“I am so ready, I cannot wait for this film,” Eccy Reviews said at the end of the trailer.

The movie was filmed especially for IMAX, so it’s bound to be an immersive experience. In the comments, someone asked: “Does this have anything to do with the Resident Evil franchise?”

A man responded saying it takes place during Resident Evil two and three “from a completely new perspective,” although they said it looked a little “too supernatural” for their taste.

However, some couldn’t get past the fact that it was a little too “modern,” saying: “Resident evil zombies don’t sprint (unless crimson heads), they certainly don’t hang off door frames, etc. It looks good as a horror film, but as a Resident Evil film no”.

One woman wrote: “Now this looks good!!! Can’t wait!” while another added: “Was just thinking they need to make a new one and here we are… Buzzing”.

But a fourth was a bit more sceptical. They predicted: “I love this director, I’m pretty sure it will be a GREAT movie. But probably a 1/10 Resident Evil movie, haha.”
