What started as a light-hearted pun during The Chase quickly turned into an unexpected stand-off when one contestant bluntly told Bradley his joke was “awful.” The host didn’t let it slide, firing back with a playful warning that instantly changed the mood in the studio.

THE Chase host Bradley Walsh was left less than impressed with a contestant after they ‘had a go’ at him.

The latest episode of the hit ITV quiz show saw host Bradley, 62, welcome four brand new contestants.

Barbara from Chesterfield, Ben from London, Lauren from Glasgow and Scott from Newcastle all appeared on the panel.

The show sees the contestants answer a series of general knowledge questions in the hope of going home with a wad of cash – all the while trying to fend off a professional quiz master.

After Barbara was first up, it was Ben’s turn to face Chaser Anne ‘Governess’ Hegerty.

The drama ensued as Ben was asked to answer the following question by Bradley: “What name is given to the den of an otter?”

The Chase fans NOT happy as they spot something very wrong with questions

As Ben locked in ‘Drey’ as his answer, Walsh said it was ‘controversial’.

“There’s a wetlands centre I go to where they have otters and I wish I paid more attention to what their den’s called,” said Ben.

Bradley then told the hopeful contestant his answer was incorrect and a ‘Holt’ is the correct name for an otter’s den.

Poking fun at Ben’s mishap, Bradley joked: “Do you know what a water otter is? A kettle.”

His humour didn’t go down well with contestant Lauren as she shouted over to him saying: “That’s awful!”

He was quick to snap back, telling her: “What do you mean ‘that’s awful’ Lauren?

“You wait until you get up here now, there’ll be trouble now.”

“Have a go at my gags,” he added.

It was then revealed that Anne had answered the question correctly and she moved closer to sabotaging him.

In the end Ben made the final, with a score of 15 points, however he was caught by Chaser Anne.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
