Meghan Markle Shares First Glimpse of Family’s New UK Life After Surprise Return

Meghan Markle has offered her first personal look at life back in Britain, sharing a new video featuring Prince Harry, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet enjoying the English countryside following the family’s return from California.

The montage, posted to Meghan’s Instagram account on Sunday, September 13, marks the first video the Duchess of Sussex has shared since the family relocated to the UK after six years based in Montecito.

Set to Wham!’s 1984 hit “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” the collection of informal phone clips presents a relaxed picture of the Sussexes settling into their new surroundings.

Meghan and Harry lead the family montage

The video begins with Meghan and Harry walking hand in hand. Meghan turns toward the camera and playfully calls out: “Come on, you.”

Other clips show the family spending time outdoors with their dog, while Harry is seen on a small boat fishing with the children.

One particularly affectionate moment appears to show Lilibet riding a bicycle with a doll sitting behind her in a child seat while Archie runs nearby.

Another brief scene appears to capture one of the children warming their feet beside a fireplace.

Meghan also added a Union Flag and heart emoji to the montage, giving the post an unmistakably British theme as the family begins its latest chapter.

A major change after six years in California

Harry and Meghan stepped away from their roles as senior working royals in early 2020 before eventually establishing their home in Montecito, California.

Their relationship with the Royal Family has faced considerable strain since then, particularly following a series of public interviews and revelations about their experiences within the monarchy.

Harry nevertheless continued making occasional trips to Britain during his years in the United States, including visits connected to King Charles.

The Sussexes then made a surprise return to Britain in late August, with reports indicating they intend to live in the UK full-time and have Archie and Lilibet educated there.

The move could also give King Charles significantly more opportunities to spend time with his grandchildren.

Palace makes clear their royal status has not changed

Despite the Sussexes’ return, Buckingham Palace has made clear that moving back to Britain does not restore Harry and Meghan to their previous positions within the monarchy.

A letter sent on the King’s behalf by senior Palace official Richard Benyon reaffirmed that the couple are “no longer working Members of The Royal Family” and that there has been “no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Their His and Her Royal Highness styles remain in abeyance and are not used.

The letter also stressed that Harry and Meghan’s charitable activities are undertaken privately rather than on behalf of the Crown, describing their position as “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”

That clarification creates a striking backdrop to Meghan’s latest video.

While their formal relationship with the working monarchy remains unchanged, the Duchess is now presenting a very different image publicly: Harry and Meghan back on British soil, their children experiencing life in the countryside, and a family apparently beginning to establish a new home after six years away.
