CHAOS has erupted inside the Uruguay camp ahead of their decisive World Cup showdown with Spain with the squad REBELLING against boss Marcelo Bielsa.

According to radio station Espectador Deportes, a group of players led by Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde and Internacional goalkeeper Rochet confronted the former Leeds boss.

They were also backed up by Premier League duo Manuel Ugarte and Rodrigo Bentancur of Manchester United and Spurs, respectively.

The players told Bielsa they are unhappy with the workload in training and believe that his intense style has led to injuries in the camp.

This is not the first time Bielsa has come under fire for working his troops too hard with several former players opening up about his “murder ball” training.

But the Uruguay group also had a problem with the tactics he has been employing, too.

According to the report, the players also requested to play differently against Spain, who they face in the early hours of Saturday morning (1am UK time).

They want to operate in a low block and attempt to exploit on the counter-attacks.

Bielsa then called a general meeting with the whole squad where he reportedly stated the intention was to play in a mirrored formation to their opponents.

The meeting is said to have lasted 48 minutes and Bielsa explained different aspects and perspectives on his work.

And he also bit back against his unhappy senior players.

He reportedly claimed that the players tried to get rid of him after he stopped calling up Luis Suárez and didn’t include midfielder Nahitan Nández in the World Cup squad.

Things got worse when the Argentinian coach allegedly said that he had orchestrated the careers of some national team players, such as Martin Cáceres and Maxi Araújo.

Some players were not happy with the 70-year-old and left the meeting immediately.

Defender Jose Maria Gimenez reportedly tried to defuse the situation, but was unsuccessful leaving the whole camp in disarray.

According to Espectador Deportes, one of the directors of the Uruguayan Football Association was aware of the hostile situation.

Incredibly, he has told the station that Bielsa will be gone as coach “in less than a month”.

After frustrating draws against Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, Uruguay have saved the toughest for last as they have to now beat Spain in their final Group H game to qualify for the second round of the World Cup.
