On the Virtuosos 2025 stage, Plácido Domingo and José Carreras didn’t reclaim “My Way,” they released it, opening with Hauser’s cello like a memory resurfacing before Domingo entered, weathered and steady, followed by Carreras, restrained and intimate — and then Dimash Qudaibergen stepped in, not to replace but to receive, the moment shifting almost imperceptibly as generations overlapped and legacy breathed forward. The room didn’t erupt, it paused — because everyone felt it at once: this wasn’t a performance… it was a torch being passed in real time
