Season 2 ends just as Helen is about to tell him everything
The Netflix thriller puts Helen (Keira Knightley) in an increasingly difficult position this season. Wallace (Andrew Buchan) is now Prime Minister, her secret life is becoming harder to hide, and her family is caught up in the dangerous world of the Black Doves.
By the finale, Wallace knows that his wife has been keeping some pretty major secrets. And while Helen does tell him more about her past, the season ends before we hear her full confession.
Speaking to Tudum, Knightley explained just how much pressure Helen is under throughout season 2. “I think she’s a worm on a hook this season,” she said. “The stakes are getting higher and higher just as she’s at the pinnacle of her career. She’s the most exposed [and] the level of stress that she’s under is just ratcheted up.”
Knightley added, “She’s totally cornered. She’s completely and utterly up against a wall, but I think she will find a way.”
Ultimately, Helen does find a way to save Wallace, but the conversation about her past is far from over.
Why does Black Doves season 2 end before Helen’s confession?

The final scene brings Helen and Wallace together for the conversation they’ve been putting off. And as Wallace tells her, “Let’s start with your name and work from there,” the episode cuts to black before she can answer.
Creator Joe Barton joked that “We just ran out of film.” But the cliffhanger was actually a deliberate choice, which he described as a “delicious mid-sentence stopping point”.
He also explained, “To get into the fallout from this and Wallace knowing Helen’s true identity is such a big thing that it kind of needs its own series.”
He added, “The whole nucleus of Helen is that she’s got this secret life, and what happens when that secret comes out is such a fascinating thing.”
