England legend Paul Gascoigne’s nephew appears on hit TV show The 1% Club as host Lee Mack is left speechless
His nephew has previously been seen on the red carpet with him
PAUL GASCOIGNE’S nephew made a surprise appearance on a hit TV show, leaving viewers and host Lee Mack speechless.
During Friday night’s airing of The 1% Club Rollover on ITV, host Lee Mack asked one of the contestants who had successfully answered a question about themselves.
Mack highlighted a guest by the name of Joseph Gascoigne.
The contestant then lifted his hand and said his greetings to Mack, adding he was from Newcastle.
Mack then highlighted his surname as being the same as England legend Gazza, to which Joe replied by revealing the 58-year-old was his uncle.
The revelation left comedian Mack stunned as he asked: “Gazza’s your uncle?”
Joe then replied by saying: “My dad’s brother, yeah.”
Quick-witted comedian Mack then quipped: “I know what an uncle is,” before asking Joe how he thought the former Rangers, Newcastle and Tottenham star would get on if he appeared on the show.
Joe joked that he would probably be out at the 90 per cent question.
Mack then said back: “Let’s be honest, he probably wouldn’t turn up.”
He then concluded the interaction by wishing him congratulations before moving on to the rest of the show.
Joe, 21, was previously seen on the red carpet alongside his iconic uncle in 2015 for the premiere of theatrical documentary “Gascoigne” at the Ritzy Brixton in London.
The special Rollover edition of the show has seen anyone who reaches the final round of the show return for the next show.
And on Thursday, Anna, who was one of three contestants in the final round, walked away with a huge prize of £97,000.
Reading out the perplexing sentence to players and viewers, Mack asked: “What common two-word phrase do you get if you remove three words from the following sequence?”
Below the question was a screen packed with a whole lot of letters.
The chosen letters for the question were T W H W E R L E L E D W O O N R E D S.
After taking a moment to think, Anna locked in her answer of “well done”, awaiting her fate.
But the answer lay in the wording of the question – you just had to remove the letters of ‘three words’ from the selection.
The remaining letters left spelled common phrase “well done”.
Revealing the result, Mack told viewers: “Congratulations Anna, you are the winner and get everything in the prize pot – £97,000.”
Astonished by the result, Anna blurted: “I can’t believe it!”
Only one day earlier another played took home a mega cash prize of £194,000.
Gascoigne played 57 times for the England national team, scoring 10 goals.
He retired from club football in 2004.
